Here’s the resume
How does this Fractional CMO thing work?
This way of working allows you to have a very seasoned and inventive marketing mind on staff without the overhead of a full-time headcount. I’m with clients either in-person, video conference, or by phone. Usually, I find that a “days-per-week” approach isn’t right for most clients. Instead, I usually work on an “hours-per-day” model. Projects won’t get delayed when I work remotely. Either way, I’m going to be a presence in your company, a uniting force.
A great example is a SaaS company in New York. They were a client for over two years and retained me for about 20% of my time. They love how much work I’m able to get done through my network of contacts, including writers, art directors, video filming and editing companies, web programmers, etc.
Mostly they love having a trusted advisor on staff.
Are you a W2 or 1099?
I’m a 1099.
You say you’re a "hands-on" fractional CMO. What does that mean?
I’ve run a company called Trouble Group in NYC for 3 years now. Before that it was a content marketing company for 8 years. That number of years in content marketing has hardened my view of it. I’m not in agreement with the approach of habitually populating social media or pumping out content like a machine. I go for exponential ROI; and that requires bigger, more meaningful ideas.
I’m a strategist who does far more than create strategic documents. If you don’t have a large staff of people in-house, then I’ll guide the execution through our large group of 1099s that I’ve spent decades vetting.
Strategy is useless unless top-quality execution follows it. And what follows that is measurement, course correction if necessary, and ROI.
How badly pissed off was Ralph Nader?
The best way to answer that is with a Google search (here). He seems pissed off most of the time. However, very glad he forced those seatbelt laws back in the day. Haven’t seen how I pissed him off? Click here.
What do you do as a Creative Consultant?
I will study your business, devise winning strategies, then bring them to life so they stand out amidst the sea of sameness we see in marketing these days. Check out the video case studies at the Trouble Group website.
This "Disruptive Marketing" service... What is that?
Tons of companies are all going to market using the same marketing tactics. Strategic thinking is hard to find. I’m going to make your company stand out amongst your competition. See samples of 30 years of disruptive marketing here.
Every client has unique needs, so each of my solutions is different.
Why hire a fractional CMO / Marketing Director with a creative background?
Simple, I’m highly strategic. I’ve worked on huge brands and helped to turn smaller brands into huge brands as well. I’ve launched and successfully run 3 companies. I’m focused on much more than high-minded theory. You’ll get great execution and results.
That Lovecraft commercial, did it work?
It, and two others I created, aired at the same time. The store in the Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto had so much traffic that they had lines out the door. The owners brought in more cash registers to handle the traffic.
